Re: Winter Project Thread
I'll contribute some -
Have all the plastics off the CBR, doing a bunch of work to it - mostly thanks to the asshat who kicked it over in a garage and continued to kick it.
Plastics off:
Something that was bothering the shit out of me, previous owner installed HID's. Tip of them touched in the housing, causing it to rub. Caused this powder. Have to remove bunch of RTV to get the bulb out, just haven't done that yet;
Probably hard to see but the windscreen has some sort of 'corrosion' on it. Gonna try to use a 2k wet sand and polish to get it out. If not, I'll throw some VHT on it.
Some of the damage given to me by someone extraordinarily generous. If I meet them, I'll return the favor;
Backup for those freak days its been good over the winter;
Plans that have been done/are doing for the CBR this season;
Oil change (duh)
Air filter Change
New front tire (already got a new rear)
New Chain and Sprocket
New battery (ripped connector out disconnecting it)
Rebuild front forks
Some plastic work
Install new Rear views
Fix high beam switch (works intermittently)
Install sliders

Re: Winter Project Thread
just a little update. blasted the frame and here is what i had.
realized the welds weren't up to par with what i thought was safe. i then tried to redo them and sections were so thin that they kept blowing out so i just figured that it was unsafe.
so at that point i went ahead and got a whole new rear section made up from a company in OK that specializes in cb's

Re: Winter Project Thread
i then welded the frame together while also using dowels.
then i got a little help.
mocked up my oil tank and did a little assembly to see what its going to unfold like.

Re: Winter Project Thread
gonna be running some enduro tires. went with some michelins. realized the rim was just a tad to skinny so i sent off the hub to california to get a new excel 4.25 wide rim and new ss spokes. still waiting for it to get back. here is a pic of what it looked like on the stock 2.15 rim.
