it doesn't happen that often. The reason you see it in videos is A) people try and show off extra hard for the camera B) its fun to watch C) its grossly misrepresented when compared to the 1.4 billion hours of normal riding footage out there which never makes it into a clip or video

i bet i see at least 2 bikes flipped a month....
but then i ride with a bunch of "stunna's"
you'd really be surprised how much it does happen. it's usually a noob that watches too many stunt videos though.
if you wanna learn to wheelie... get up with that guy in the 757 that builds the wheelie machines. it's not an exact training thing, but it does teach you how to use and feel the rear brake without killing yourself or your bike. i forget the guy's name, he's a customer of mine.
but then i ride with a bunch of "stunna's"

if thast the same one im thinking of , he always rolls to the mercury/colliseum bike spot with that thing, its bad ass, and i heard its good training, i think like 6 wheelies for 20 bucks

also, a lot of people crash from wheelies when setting the bike down cause they dont know how to position there body, grip the bike, and lean properly for the impact of the landing

yeah, guy's name is bishop. i think he's built 3 of those things. it's cool, and it'll teach you brake control to a point, but the fact that it's locked straight up and down negates any issues with people learning to keep the bike in a straight line. i see alot of people that tend to vear to one side or the other when they wheelie, ans that's at highway speeds. the new guys at the lot trying the slow stuff have even more of a hard time with it.

yeah... for the beginners, i HIGHLY reccomend a scotts damper... and crank it way up.
also, i see alot of guys that are accelerating the whole time the front wheel is in the air. that means they're not at the balance point yet, and they're using the throttle to hold them up. if they can get the hang of controlling thier hieght with the brake more than the throttle, then they can ride em out longer, instead of bringing it down when they hit the rev limiter. that also frees up some revs, so you can give a lil "pop" of throttle on the way down, which softens the landing ALOT. keeps the shakes down, and you'll go thru alot less fork seals that way.
