What other bikes should i look at to buy
I'm currently in the market for a used SV 650. I just thought, why should i narrow my options like this when i don't know SHeeese about motor cycles. . . . I want the following:
-Naked
-compact
-Somewhat sit upright
^^^ Just somewhat, i don't want to look like i'm driving a cruiser or a chopper. But i don't wanna be leaning all the time.
I always see a Kawasaki that fits my description, (i don't know if its a V-twin, but i really don't care for that)
A Buell, could be nice. But i can't afford on and also i don't think i would be the best beginner's bike.
What do you suggest i look at??

Re: What other bikes should i look at to buy
The Kawi you are probably talking about is the ZR7. Basically cross a ZZR600 with an old ZX7 (detuned for midrange and comfort), and remove the bodywork...
They also made the ZRX1100...ZX11 detuned and bodywork removed...
And of course the Z1000...cross between ZX6R (636) and the ZX9 motor bumped up to 1000cc, and set up for midrange. Might be a bit much for a beginner, but a fun hooligan bike!

Re: What other bikes should i look at to buy
I will tell you my brother's first bike was the SV, and he loves it.
Although, if you are looking for new, I am willing to bet the FZ6 would be a nice ride! Honda also has the 919 and 599, also nekkid and based off of older motors, but still nice.
I would recommend any one of these (and I bleed Kawi green!), get some good gear, take the Motorcycle Safety Course, and enjoy!

I like EX500 or maybe its a Z1000, that's the one i see all the time. With no fairings and one of these headlight conversions http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...661&Division=6
But its harder to find than the SV....
The GS, i don't like. . .

Re: What other bikes should i look at to buy
IF you can find one, you need one of these!! i've had a few, and i'm currently building another with a cr500 motor in it
without a doubt the most fun motorcycle i've ever owned, even if it is a little down on power (in stock form)
they made em from 88-91, but they have a cult following, and they still get a decent price for clean ones, but MAN do they handle sweet.

honda NT650 hawk gt
650cc v-twin. kinda like an sv, but i like em better than i ever liked my sv650.
kind of a family thing i guess, my dad has owned 6 or so hawk's, and i've had a handfull of them too. i LOVE those bikes.
here's the only pic i have left of one of my old ones. this one had a heavily built motor in it.

^^^ The Hawk is also off my list since i don't plan on doing ANY building. All i'm doing is a 2 headlight conversion. And maybe a Slip on and 1 HID (which i already have)
