What is a fair price for new 2008 models?
A lot of the dealerships around me (NoVa) still have 2008 models. I'm looking at 600 gsxr and cbrs and wondered what would a fair OTD price would be. A couple of my friends bought new 2008 cbr 600 for 8.5k OTD in Dec. Would something around 7.8k OTD be a realistic price since we're half way through 2009?

no.
i suppose it depends on the dealer, but i can't imagine any dealer having it that rough this deep into the heart of riding season to actually sell a bike under msrp.
look at the manufacturer websites, the msrp listed there will probably be what the bike will go for. factoring in the freight, tags, etc. etc. is how the dealers really make their money, so it depends on what you set your sights on as far as a price is concerned... 8.5k out the door for a new cbr, whether it's an 08 or not, seems like a stellar deal.
i got royally assfucked on my bike, btw. still sore... but i had a trade-in that i just didn't want to try to sell, and i had already decided i wanted an 09. you should be able to work out a decent deal, but i wouldn't expect too much.

i know a few weeks ago, sunrise cycle, in norfolk, had 6-7 blue/white 08 or 09 gsxr600 with a sticker price of $7,800.
maybe with some haggling, you can get that otd.

good choice on the ninja. if you bought an 08-09, you'll probably be happy with it for a while. i'm sorry but the 07 and older are just ugly as sin and are pretty much ONLY good for learning on imo...
they also have a fair amount of the yellow/black 08 gsxr's they're trying to get rid of. i strongly considered one of those blue/white's while i was in the market.

Here is what you do go to this link Colemans powersports Make sure you print the page of the bike. the list price for an 08 gsxr600 msrp is 9,399.00 with the printed online ad you save a thousand dollars, Just try to get OTD close to that number.
I wouldn't pay over 8 OTD. Just be willing to stay there for awhile. and haggle.

10.2 is the msrp for an 09 r6... and the yellow wasn't available in 09, so that is what's called a markup.

that is why i bought a hyosung... which promptly cost me a couple grand on the trade-in for my r6. oh well... the hyosung was actually a pretty damn good bike to learn on, and i would have been happy with it had i not had an insatiable urge to buy a new bike this spring.
you'll enjoy your bike though. i hear the ninjas are even easier to learn on because they're actually significantly smaller than most sportbikes- my hyosung was pretty much exactly the same size as a typical sportbike.
