Default suzuki sv engine swap?

how hard would it be to swap a suzuki sv650S engine with a 1000sv, meaning i want to put a 1000sv engine into my 650 frame. just curious if i would come out cheaper then just upgrading as a whole

My understanding its too difficult to make it worth the money/work involved. The SV1000 frame is larger to accomodate the motor.

I had a streetfighter magazine fro several years back where the cover bike was a sv650 with tl1k engine in it and it took some fabbing and never looked right. Had to move motor mounts and the whole thing looked "off" even for a streetfighter. SV1k's aren't super expensive used and my brother was thinking of getting a sv650s but bought a sv1000 naked because it was about $1k more than a 650

or just go buy a tl1000s instead....they're fairly cheap and I have seen several gorgeous examples for under $4k

What i saw on the sv forums was a 2nd gen SV engine on a 1st gen. . . Maybe that's not as hard.

uh, it's the same motor as far as i know.

and as far as gettng a 1k into a 650... have fun. save the money, sell your 650, and buy a 1k. it's not worth what it will take to make it work (other than the "look what i did" part of it), and it'll never be as "right" as a 1k in the first place. i'm all for bastardizing motorcycles, but that swap just isn't worth the hassle.

wow when i saw you were the last reply to this thread I was certain it was going to be a "ah nothing a welder and a hacksaw can't do", if you say its not worth attempting its probably REALLY not worth attempting

the 1st and 2nd gen motors are different, but I think totally based off the same basic design, so it would be like swapping a B16A1 obi for a B16A3 obii(i just made that up from some letters and #'s in my head, not sure if those are real examples), an upgrade but just a case of bolt these parts directly into this bike, not a real serious motor swap
