sportbike tire question
I have an r6. I had Shinko Stealth on both rims. I just got a Pilot Power rear tire installed. Is my Shinko Stealth front tire going to affect handling as much as the rear would? The Shinko rear was really flat but the front tires all seem just as curvy? What do you all think?
SHINKOS WERE SOLD

Re: sportbike tire question
i know we've all been told to run them as a pair, BUT, are there any articles written by professionals that confirm this? I'm not doubting it, I just like to confirm it with some proof.

Re: sportbike tire question
The profile of the front and rear are carefully calculated to work with one another so that they roll over at rates that are complimentary to each other. This helps to keep the front and rear contact patches working together.

Thanks, but that section only refers to matching a new tire with another new tire, and not a worn tire. It doesn't say anything about matching make and models of tires.
I'll try and look too.

Re: sportbike tire question
The question is: "Why is it important to match your front and rear tires make and model?"
The article you linked doesn't answer this, but it does say to not replace an old tire with a new one, while the other tire is still old. It recommends to replace both tires with new ones at the same time.
Now, I've found an interesting article on Dunlops website. They obviously make the same recommendation as above, as that should be common sense. But, they also call out only a few models of their tires that they recommend you match together. So, if they only call out a few models for matching together, are we to assume that the other models of tires they sell can be mixed and match, as long as they are of the same type and speed ratings (i.e. radial bias, and z ratings etc)?
