Re: Ride from Va to Cali
go to google maps
put in your home zip code and the city in california you want to go to add options avoid highways. get directions. adjust from there if you want to try specific sections... like highway 50 across nevada http://www.nevadamagazine.com/images...rry_osborn.jpg seems like it would be boring, but it's something I'd probably want to see. |

Re: Ride from Va to Cali
Friend of mine recently went from Virginia Tech to Tracy Cali Trip was about 5 days I think non stop, non sight seeing trip. on a Suzuki Bandit 600. Things he mentioned that annoyed him: cramps for throttle control, and rain when he ran into it. pack some rain gear and make sure your boots are rated to be water resistant or get something to cover them. Nothing worse than soggy shoes.
Not sure how involved you are into chain maintenance but that distance I'd make a point to clean it every day as part of your pre ride inspection, most oil ring chains are supposed to be cleaned/lubed every 200 miles. In addition to every time you ride in the rain. Road tripping makes it difficult but there are methods like auto oilers which make it a non issue. |
Re: Ride from Va to Cali
mine has an o-ring chain and the manual says every 1000km or 600 miles. so, once a day sounds about right.

Re: Ride from Va to Cali
I think I made a mistake, 200 miles is my normal interval, (clean/lube every time I fill up)
my owners manual says 400 miles and so does RK Chains for sealed O-Ring Chains. http://www.rkexcelamerica.com/faq.html#oring I keep a small toolkit with me at all times to adjust small things + zip ties to help me gimp along if I have an issue. |
