Rearended
Commuting home from work today, I got rear ended just passed Va Beach Blvd and Ballentine. Just started from the stop light on the Blvd, there was some sort of police commotion going on tBallentine to my left, they had the whole lane blocked and a stopped car. There were cars ahead of me making a left turn, which in turn started to back up some traffic, well, apparently the guy behind me wasn't paying attention, was he rubber necking on the police presence? i dunno, don't care. Next thing I know, the bike is lifting off the ground a bit, and I see the car in front of me getting closer. Luckily, I managed to turn the bars to avoid hitting the guy in front of me, and didn't lay the bike down. Was able to ride home after exchanging information.
Looks to be cosmetic, frame doesn't show any outwards signs of stress or fracture/bending. Wheels are aligned straight and no slack in the chain from the wheel moving. Most importantly, I'm walking, talking, alive and not a hood ornament. Do need new rear plastics, left hand muffler, tail light bracket, and turn signals. http://www.zeroaffiliation.net/image...earended-0.JPG http://www.zeroaffiliation.net/image...earended-1.JPG http://www.zeroaffiliation.net/image...earended-2.JPG http://www.zeroaffiliation.net/image...earended-3.JPG http://www.zeroaffiliation.net/image...earended-4.JPG |

Re: Rearended
i heard about a guy who was riding to work early one a.m. a month or so ago when some asshole in a pickup tried to run him off the road. they came to a light and the pickup pinned him between a car, he got out of his truck and went apeshit on him. turned out he attacked him because he hates all motorcyclists.

Re: Rearended
Does anyone have any recommendations for getting an estimate for repair done other than Sunrise, or Cycle World?
I have seen that Hall has a motorcycle repair center, all i need is a Professional estimate, complete with a full checkout of the frame and swing arm to ensure it's safe if insurance doesn't total it. I was pretty animate about this fact when talking to both my insurance, and his. They are talking about coming to the house to do a walk around of it.... I got a voicemail from the guy's insurance company wanting to know if I have had the estimate done, and i am just trying to think ahead. |
Re: Rearended
why not get an estimate from Hall too? I would hurry up and get the estimates done from all three places.
|
Re: Rearended
Glad to hear that you are ok man... fuckin morons.
Whiplash!!! Whiplash!!! Get a little dough out of it. LOL.. Free trips to the Chiropractor. I would take it all man. OH.. that shit is good stuff. BTW... just for future knowledge.. it can take up to 48 hours for whiplash to take effect and give you headaches. So... Free massages and chiropractic work from the rubbernecker's insurance. I dont see the harm in that. lol. |
Re: Rearended
Dude needs to man up and pick up his phone when his insurance agents call him....
|
Re: Rearended
Hope the bitch isn't runnin.
In all seriousness looking at the pics and taking into account the age of the bike insurance is most likely going to total it..thats my two cents though. |
Re: Rearended
that's my feeling too just based on what i have been tallying up, which did not include having the frame and swing arm check out to make sure it would be safe to ride....
|
Re: Rearended
Time to get that new 09 6R lol.
|
Re: Rearended
dunno..that 500 had kinda grown on me, especially with the work I put into it. My original plan was to keep it even if I did go up to a bigger bike.
I am thinking Honda if I do go up though, like a 2000 F4 or maybe an SV if I go zuki....i dunno though. :dunno: I have vacation coming up, and no bike or money to pick one up. :curse: |
Re: Rearended
got a call from the shop $2200 repair bill. Totaled.
Time to see how bad insurance is going to low ball me. |
Re: Rearended
Now I don't really know how this works.. but if the insurance totals a vehicle and cuts you a check, do you still get to keep it? If so, you would be able to part a lot of it out, yea?

Just a thought. And honestly.. i would buy it back and repair it myself. by getting another sub-frame. The damage didnt look that bad. Then once it is repaired.. you can have the title "rebuilt" and it would be fine again. That is your call. |
Re: Rearended
Yeah, I know I could probably buy it back and do the repairs....it's just the bullshit offer I know the insurance will come back with, and probably an absurd buy back price. That's what is what is going to aggravate me.
|
Re: Rearended
Damn man sorry to hear this hsit, at least you are ok and they did Total it so you should be good. I would def have been checked for the whiplash though.
|
Re: Rearended
glad your ok man. At least you get to ride another day :)

Re: Rearended
