Need info about CBR600 F4i/RR differences
I'm looking for info about the differences between the different years of F4i and RR engines (just engines, nothing else). I don't know bikes at all so don't know which of them are which engine generation.. I just use the engines.
So I need some help here. I'll post more questions as I think of them.
I understand the 2002 to 2006 were the same engine, and the new engine came along in 2007, correct?
Were all of the 02-06 F4i and RR engines inductive ("transistorized") ignition coils, or were some of the years CDI coils? That's not a big deal, but I need to know if we need to buy coils from a particular year to work with our aftermarket ECU.
Any differences in engine mounting locations between the F4i and RR or are they the same block casting?
I'm not really interested in the 2007-present engines because of the higher cost and the fact that most of the really innovative OEM stuff (ECU, throttles, shower injectors) will be removed anyway.
Tell me anything you know about them; we're changing brands for our racecar (we were using R6 engines and I'll spare the details) and I'm trying to get a feel for which years to buy so they're interchangeable.
This includes certain people from Virginia Tech and ODU who have already figured out why I'm asking this stuff. Feel free to chime in.
