MSF Question
I am signed up to take the MSF class at the end of the month. I just recieved my permit. Will I have to take the MSF skills test to get my license in class or will just the road test part of the class. I would hate to fail to get me license because I failed the skills test even though I passed it at dmv. Thanks for your input.

Actually the military MSF course will not let you get your license, you still need to take the easy ass test at the DMV, just do the MSF course (if you're in the miltary) and go take the DMV test, its easy as hell, but if your'e not in the military the MSF course at TCC or wherever counts as your license... same course, but the military one doesn't count towards your license because it was free and you didn't pay for it... gotta love the Common Wealth...
MSF class doesnt care if you have a permit or not. Its a written and skills test
Pass, get your license.
DMV
Take the road (parking lot) test get your license.
I suggest the MSF, saves money on insurance and you actually LEARN skills that will make you a safer rider.

Thanks you are the only one that understood my question.
I took the MSF Class at the Chesapeake TCC Campus this weekend. I've been riding for about 2 months now on a permit (took written test at DMV), so I had a lot of the basics already down. It was a good class though, learned quite a few things.
The first day of the three day class is all classroom stuff, watching video's. The second day is on the range (parking lot) going learning to ride the bike and basic handling skills. The third day you take the written test, then go on to the range for more complicated handling skills. Once that is done, you take the riding skills test - typically the last hour of the course.
After that, if you pass both the written test (50 Questions, 2 Points Each, 80% or Higher Needed to Pass) and the skills test (Max Score of 20 Points Permitted, different things give more points, lay down the bike or pop a wheelie you fail) you get a card that says you passed the course. Take that to DMV with a valid drivers license and you get your M Class - no permit required.

the MSF test is pretty hard to fail if you actually pay attention. but yeah, once your done with the MSF course, they give you a little certificate that you can take to the dmv to get your m class without having to take a test or anything.
