Do you guys know if you can get a 30 day plate on a bike? I am getting ready to buy a bike froma private dealer where you have to do the plates taxes and everything yourself. Thanks

Re: liscense plate
My first bike I just wrote "in-transit" on a piece of cardboard and stuck it there while I drove to the DMV, not sure if it's legit or not but I've been told by others that it works and it worked for me lol, just make sure you have the title on you. If it's not your first bike just take the plate off your other one and use it while you go to the dmv, I doubt cops run the numbers anyway they're so tiny

Re: liscense plate
Dealers give 30 day tags, private sellers can not.
I brought mine home in the back of a truck and went to dmv to get tags. As others have stated, you can use another tag, but if the cop wants to be a dick, you can get a ticket for it. Def. make sure title is with you.

Illegal:
Legal:
http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/c...emp_permit.asp
Follow the instructions on this page to buy a trip permit for $5 and then print it out:
https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/dmvnet/...rmit/intro.asp
If you cant afford $5 for a trip permit then you should not be thinking about buying a bile.
I drove back from ATL with the trip permit taped to the license plate area on the back of the car and never got pulled over, I even had 2 state troopers directly behind me at different times.
