MSF BRC has their own bikes they provide. The MSF ERC you use your own bike as it is an expert/advance course.

double checking.. he wasnt very specific about what he was "taking". I didnt want him thinking he had to use his own bike for the MSF course. I took mine in PA and Military MSF you use your own bikes, which is really messed up.

I think you are confused. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation run and administer the BRC courses that are offered at various places around the US. They provide bikes and helmets. See the links and info below

The Military sportbike course is not the MSF BRC course. It is a Sportbike course that the military and MSF created and you use your own bike. It is similar to the MSF ERC.

I'm not confused. I've taken all 3 of them, the BRC, ERC and MSRC.


I didnt want the guy asking the question think he had to use his own bike for the BRC, if it was for the VA MSF Course. The BRC course provided by the Navy you have to provide your own bike, at least I did when I took it.

I don't know what else to tell you, but I gave you two accredited sites that state otherwise including the organization that created, runs and operates the criteria the BRC/ERC.

The Navy's BRC is bullshit as they make up their own rules which is NOT exactly as the MSF BRC. Basically they say if you took a rider course on a bike greater than 500cc you are encouraged to take the ERC. However, if you took the BRC on a bike under 500cc, you must take the BRC using your bike. Seems it is typical Military bullshit with idiots who have no real idea and concept of what the BRC is about and making up courses to help reduce accidents because of stupid riders.

When I was in the Corps you had to complete a MSF course to even get a DOD sticker and operate your bike on post. Of course these guys are just reinventing the wheel and really the BRC and ERC will suffice and just as good if not the same as their Sportbike rider course.

Note 1: If the BRC was completed on a standard, cruiser or touring motorcycle (greater than 500cc) and the course graduate plans on operating a privately-owned standard, cruiser or touring motorcycle greater than 500cc, operators are encouraged to complete the ERC as soon as possible, but no later
than 3 years following completion of the BRC.
Note 2: If BRC is completed on a trainer MC (500cc or less) (Oct 08) and the rider intends on operating a privately-owned MC greater than 500cc the following training shall be taken on the privately owned motorcycle asap after completion of the BRC. Ideally NLT 60 days after completion of the BRC.

Your not understanding me.. I'm telling you the Navy courses dont provide the bikes, I know I've taken all 3. I even mentioned that a few times. Your talking Civvie courses.



I said then you said I'm confused and repeated exactly what I said.. that he didnt have to use his own bike .I was just double checking that the VA MSF provides the bikes. I was trying to let the guy asking the question know that if hes taking the BRC that he does not have to use his own bike. He does however have to provide the bike for the DMV test though.

I understand you just fine. You are not understanding what I am saying. I am not talking about military courses because they don;t apply to civilians unless they work on post. The kid was referring about the DMV test.

I have told you repetedly and quoted for reference if you go to any MSF sponsored site around the United States and take a MSF BRC or a MCSV BRC in Virginia and NOT THE NAVY'S they provide bikes. The Navy has adjusted the course info to their standards which is what I have been saying.

The fact that you took the Navy's and they made you bring your bike has no relevance to a civilian course because it is not the exact same course and required criteria is different.

All I asked was if they provide the bikes, I wasn't sure, its been 8 years. If the civilian version provided the bikes he didn't have to use his own, which is better. I got my answer 10 post ago.

I just mentioned that the military version didn't and that sucks, thats all I was trying to say. But you went high and right when I mentioned military, and how it didn't apply to him and started an argument over it.

yeah i was talking about dmv. do i have to take the road test the the same day i take the skills test because im geting it lowered at Cycle Specialist and ill get it back tuesday but i wanted to go to dmv monday...
