I lost my only key for my 2004 gsx-r 750. I searched online and some posts say there is a key code stamped on the ignition on the underside. I know this is true for zx-6rs as my friend had to remove his ignition. I've also seen posts that say I have to bring the ignition to a lock smith. Before I remove the ignition would a dealership be able to cut my key from my VIN?

they use to be able to some may still be able to do it but i know with all the bike thefts lately alot of them hae stopped doing it there is a lock smith in newport news called coffees lock smith that will do it for like 35 for just ignition or like 85 if you take thm the whole bike

I doubt they'd do it by just bringing in a VIN. Bring the Registration or something with the VIN and your name as the owner on it, they'd probably do it then.

Motorcycle keys cant be cut from a VIN number like a car can. Contact Ace Locksmith or American Lock and key. With proof of ownership they can cut a key to your ignition cylinder.

Yea they cant cut it from the VIN. usually there is a tag that comes with the keys..the code on it is what they use for making new keys. Unfortunately that was probably with the key you lost.

I use coffees and there keys always works great and I just bring them the lock or the whole bike and get it done in one day
