HONDA CBR125 ???? need advice.
This is my first post in the motorcycle forum, so go soft on me please.
So after getting my initial "i want the best looking and fastest bike so bad right now" phase outa the way, i have been doing more and more research about a bike to get, and to me its more about transportation from work and around my area, i live 3 miles from work. Originally i wanted a CBR a bigger model and after doing some research and financial stuff, ive come to decide that would not be smart for a 18 year old. Any way leading more to my question, my friend just got back from thailand were he said he saw CBR125, wich i thought he was talking about a dirt bike at first, then when i looked online, sure enough its exactly a CBR just smaller, perfect for me right now in my life, anyway, i was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about these things, or if anyone knows where to get them from, so far ive only seen them over seas.

I wouldn't get one, they aren't sold here but people do import them, but they are rare, pricey, and people that know about them, can work on them, or sell parts for them are going to be hard to find.
I'd suggest you look at SV650's, GS500's, EX500's or maybe a FZR 400 or Bandit 400... a GSX-R125 or CBR125 or something would be awesome, but i think your going to be disapointed with its performance pretty quick and I see it as just being one big head ache unless your some rich guy with 6 bikes and just looking for a different toy.

the only way to get them is through the gray market. A cbr125 is too small for much beyond riding in the city or on the track. You'd be looking at probably $3k on up to get one if you could find one with a more realistic price being $5k or more. The gsxr400's and cbr400's usually go used for above $5k if you can find one. Even if you somehow found one of the dozen there probably are in the US it would be ungodly expensive to get replacement parts for it. There's much better beginner bikes to be had for the $.
In the US we probably only get 1/4 to 1/3 of the models released by each manufacturer

whats rediculous is that the 125RR Type R only costs about $3200 new, over there anyway...and theres a 150RR Type R that costs about $3400. They look like pocket bikes on Steriods!

I'm with De La Sol - GS500, EX500, Bandit 400 - all good, cheap bikes that are reliable, fun, and easy to get parts for. None of them are the fastest thing on 2 wheels, but they're all fast enough to have a lot of fun. Insurance is also cheap and if you look around you can find a nice used one for $1,000-$1,500 and if you want a bigger bike in a year you'll get about what you paid for the bike back when you sell it.

yea the dealers around here sell the Kaw 250's for 2800 brand new . their nice small and easy to ride. and super cheap.
on another note of the 125's those things are awesome. i have a buddy that got a race 50. its a fill size but weighes less than a moped. and they race them on the track overseas. he has a replica model 50 i think its called. hard to din pars and all that but fun to ride around none the less. to push start em if the batterys gone you push it 15 inches and pop the clutch haha
