help on the new project
i just picked this up this past weekend 2/07/07. it is a 96 dohc750. i have many ideas for this bike and would like any input, im unsure with what i want to do about the rear views, seat, handle bars, rear fender, and wheels. i might keep the wheels and have the spokes painted red and keeping the lip the same and possible red handle grips? what is your opinion on the rout i should go?
SEE PAGE 2 FOR UPDATED PICS/ she is about 50% done now

Wow, I almost bought that bike. Definately a good bike for the money. I personally would have put some sort of speedo and tach on there.
Also, I do kind of like the black rim with red lip idea.

i'll have to agree on the spoked rim idea. leave the hubs and spokes silver, and paint the outer rim red, with a whitewall tire. traditional old-skool stuff. maybe lay some pinstriping down on the tank and other bodywork.
if it were mine i'd hack off the whole rear end and build a new rigid frame section for it. dunno if you're up for that amount of work going into it though. that's what i did with my old yamaha bobber.

Re: help on the new project
3 grand. i only had about $600 in it, so i made my money back and then some. i had alot of help with that frame. my welding skills are mediocre, so i let someone else take care of the structural welds. i think we had it all done from a bone stock xs650 to how it was in that pic in about 2-3 weeks or so. i'll be building another one as soon as i can afford it, that's for sure.
