Default Hauling bike? NEWB

I am possibly picking up my first bike this weekend from maryland. What's the easiest way to get the bike on and off my truck? Do they make ramps especially for bikes? What kind of straps do I use and where can I get them? Thanx.

Two buddies would actually work best. One can stand in the bed and receive/stabilize the bike once you've muscled it into the back of the truck. I've heard of a few people busting their back glass out because no one was there to intercept the bike and they pushed it too hard. lol.. That was actually with a four wheeler, but it's the same concept, except a motorcycle can fall over and a four wheeler can't--so it seems even more logical to have someone up there waiting for it

not by yourself they're not.. or not in my opinion anyway. you don't want to try it alone the first time.

and to answer your question from earlier, they do make ramps specifically for loading motorcycles.. but I'm not sure if it's necessarily worth it. We bought ramps for the four wheeler, but I've never had my bike in the back of the truck.

Just as long as the ramp isn't to steep.. Just loaded my new bike up friday.. Bottem plastic caught the ramp a bit going into the truck.. As long as its not a steep incline into the truck.. (back it up to a hill) its pretty easy.. I had two other people help me.
