GSXR-->SV am i nutz?
im currently on a 06 GSXR750. its my fourth bike and ive had fun with it at the dragon, just like i did my 02 GSXR.
But-- current finances warrant a sale/downgrade. i dont need to sell it, but i would like to for a cheaper bike. i Hear the SV650 is an awesome track bike. i havnt made a track day yet, but i know the 750 is way more bike than my skills right now. i was dragging knees at the dragon, but the bike has way more potential. ill admit, im a bit skerred it'll get me in trouble.
me- i dont care about blasting high speed down the straights. if i can carve thru the corners @30-50mph on the SV like i can on the GSXR, i think ill be happy. i'd rather drive a slower bike fast than a fast one slow.
im looking to get an '00 or '01, throw some GSXR forks on it get an Ohlins rear, do a 520 conversion and maybe upgrade the cam to an 03's.
what do you think? anyone know of any for sale too?

with the suspension upgrades your looking at for an sv, it'll keep you completely entertained in the twisties. i had a gsxr suspended 99 sv650 and took it to the track many a time. lil less poke in the straights, but i never had a problem hanging thru the corners. sweet little bikes for the money, and very very upgradable if you feel the need.

waaaaaaaat, you've been to Deal's Gap? you SUCK!
but ya, sv's are nice, i like inline's better, but there seem to be quite a lot of sv track bikes out there, so i guess they're pretty good for some things, lol

SVs are awesome bikes. IMO, more so than your GSXR. Most of newer supersports are too fast to ride really agressively. Redline in the first 2 or 3 gears and you are way into reckless territory. Part of the fun of riding to me is being able to ring a bike's neck. Not really doable with 100 plus HP.
Work on the suspenders on the SV and have a blast. I had an 00 650 and used to surprise a lot of local sport bike riders on some twisty roads. I miss the bike.

i went from an '00 gixxer to an sv650s...don't regret it at all. cheap on the wallet and its mean on the twisties. with a couple of suspension upgrades, you'll be ready to rip it up at the track. only hindsight is what steve said, lil less poke in the straights...but that'll depend on you. straights are boring to me.

Re: GSXR-->SV am i nutz?
thanks good to hear. why 00 or 01?
i was thinking fuel injected 02and> at first, then i heard the bottom ends of the older bikes were better. plus, for some reason they get alot better gas mileage also for when im putting it to and from work. cheaper initial buy also of course.
now i just have to find one :-/
