Better to pay more now, than pay for rash later.
Plus, you can find plenty of decently priced jackets in classified section and craigslist/ebay.

Yea I know, But I did read a few reviews on the shift jacket. Guy got hit on an onramp going about 40 and the jacket held together pretty well and he claimed he didn't get any rash. I don't plan on doing alot of highway riding.
