Default front brake help.

after my wreck.

(long story short, i dumped my bike into a ditch
at about 35 mph. windscreen gone, both mirrors
upper fairing, left fairing, gauge cluster, left
clip on was bent.)

anyway the forks look okay. got new fairings and
everything. but i'm having problems with the
front brakes. anyway the brake lever is mushy
and doesnt grab all the time, just sometimes.
and someone told me that i should try bleeding
the brakes. but can my rotors warp? or something
from the wreck? because its really hard to push
the bike, and the pads rub against the disc
sometimes and then sometimes rolls freely.

i dont know if its the calipers may be locked
up a bit, or something with the brake lines. i
dont know too much. the brake lines are free
and they arent kinked up anywhere. but i'm not
sure. any input is welcome.

thanks in advance.

Check your master cylinder make sure it is'nt busted up and your lever needs to pivot freely make sure it is'nt binding up in the perch. After all that I'd take some brake cleaner and spray the life out of the front calipers to clean them off and then bleed the front brakes. Also check make sure your fork's are'nt all twisted up in the triples.

If all that does'nt work i'd pull the calipers off and inspect them. Make sure all the pins and retainers are in order and make sure the pistons move in and out clean them up too. hope that helps

i can just about guarantee from your description that one or both of your front rotors are bent, badly. when you roll the bike, the bent rotor forces the pistons back into thier bores, and that rubbing makes it hard to push. after they're shoved way back into the caliper, you have to pump the brakes a few times to push the pistons back out before they'll contact the rotor. that's why it feels like you have no front brakes "sometimes". if you ride it like that, it'll probably put you on your ass with a quickness.

get the front wheel in the air and spin the front wheel. you'll be able to see how bent your rotor(s) probably are.
