considering the size and population of Japan. noone needs a larger displacement bike 600, 750, etc...

Here, you'd be hard pressed to be taking roadtrips on a 250 or 400.

No that is the problem with the American attitude. After riding a 500 for literally half a decade I can tell you that they are perfectly powered, and a little overpowered to tell you the truth. If you want to take trips you want a bike like that anyways since it gets insane gas milage. Americans just believe that you need to have all this power at once, hell in japan you can buy 400 cc tuned sport bikes that can take out 600's but the American market wont buy it because they look at the engine displacement and think it is a scooter.

I meant from more of a maintenance and cruising suitability standpoint. long distance constant speed highway trips are really rough on 400's but you get something like my goldwing and it's fine.

actually i think the owners manual says change oil every 7500 miles o.0
