Custom Mini-Bike Project
Alright everyone, my nephew has talked me into this and i am just trying to get some feedback or info from anyone who has ever tinkered with shit like this.
Like 6 years ago, i bought one of those little 43CC APC mini-choppers, we rode it for a while, then it got stuck in the garage never to be ridden again. Nephew talked me into getting this bitch running again the other day which i did, but we are looking at hooking this little piece of shit up with a little more power. We have removed all of the plastic, fancy shit, and have pretty much exposed frame, engine, sprocket, chain, and the bare neccessities. I have been looking online and i am trying to figure out where i should start with this bad bitch. I was looking at the 6 HP tecumseh mini-bike/go kart engines but im not too sure they will fit. I also need input on sprocket #, clutch, chain # and all of the other shit that goes along with putting a larger engine on something of this nature. Any one ever dealt with such a task...can you help a ***** out!?

Re: Custom Mini-Bike Project
What's the stock exhaust like on it? Straight pipe or what?
What you should do is find like a 70 or 100cc dirt bike motor and SoNo rig that shit up lol.

There is no exhaust on it right now, just open & loud. I was looking to go that route also, looking at little 50CC or 70CC motors, but i wasnt having any luck.

Find an old beat up or non running Honda. They usually model those scooter motors after the Honda motors so I'm sure we could fit one right in.
This is really making me want to start my mini R6 I was thinking about

Re: Custom Mini-Bike Project
im sure like a 300ex swap would fit with custom mounts.
plenty of room in these mini choppers once you move that plastic ish.
not sure frame is beefy enough to hold it down tho.

Re: Custom Mini-Bike Project
If you need something welded like mounts and stuff let me know. I do stuff like this all the time. A 110cc 4 speed will liven it up nicely and they are pretty cheap. Brackets will be a cinch to fab weld on too. I stuck one on a gokart and it ripped nicely, sadly no air to the head and header leak = burnt valves. Most are based on the Honda engine design so parts are plenty and cheap.
Working on a bad ass 2stroke water cooled 49cc right now. Gonna put it on a street cart for my friends son.
