you have a leak somewhere in the rear brakes since air is getting in somehow. I could make sure all the lines are tight that go to the master cylinder, the caliper, and the bleeder screw on the caliper. you could also has a fail in the master cylinder. or a pin hole in the line. Also, take the reservoir cap off and make sure that rubber boot thing is fitting right or is even the correct boot for your bike. If none, of that works, I don't know what your problem is.

ya the brake lights come on when you hit either brake. say when you hit the front brake, the brake lights work, but when you hit the rear brake, they don't work. then you most likely have a loose connection or no connection with the little sensor at the pedal(or in front brake case the the sensor on the brake lever perch). If nothing at all, you may have blown both brake lights but not running tail light. Have you wired anything up recently for aftermarket stuff?

well its my brothers old bike and i have only had it a month. theres a power commander back there and an alarm system which isnt even connected. i tried it but didnt seem to work. i did see two power wires and two ground wires coming from just below the brake lights. not sure but i think that may have somthing to do with it. cause the brake lights dont work whenever you hit either brake but the taillights light fine

might pull the bulbs out and make sure the brake light portion of the bulb is good. if not, maybe a fuse. also trace the two wires and see where they go. its not a hard fix.
