Buying problem / legally riding
i've talked to alot of people about this and tried to do my research, so why not put it up here.
So i took up an offer for an ex500, i said i would like to get it but it will be in payments. i put about 500 down and now im in a confusion. He's cool to give back the money if im not interested but the thing is, there is no title/registration, and im not willing to take the chances of riding dirty and getting caught. I went to his house today and talked about the laws that changed since 2007 and it is that you can't just get a title with a bill of sale. I just want to make the right decision and not be stupid. He also said that i can get a title from a title recovery service, which i've never heard of before. and i won't pay the whole amount for a bike that i can't ride legally.
So question is, how can i get hold of a title for his bike to ride his ex500 legally?
some answers i received were to move to another state[which im not doing],
custom built title, and going to a title recover service or something like that..
thanks for your help.

that abandoned title thing is all fine and good, but technically that gives the last previous registered owner full right to come get his property, so be carefull, you could getr screwed. i did it once with an old chevelle back in the day.

Don't pay for the car/bike until it is said and done with title in hand. If the current person in possession has a problem with that walk away from it.

youve got the right idea dude, im looking at bikes and have come across 2 GREAT deals. However neither have the title, and regardless how good a deal it is in the end its a huge hassle that you are better off not dealing with. I tried it with a car once I got for free, what a waste of time.

thanks everyone and thanks spindrift. i thought about how hectic it can get if i buy a bike without a title rather than buying one with a title and riding that baby home.
