Best sportbike...

Just got my motorcycle learner's permit looking for a bike to ride nothing to fast but i dont want a smaller bike b/c im like 6'1 270lbs. i know i should start off with a 600 but everyone says ill get tired of it quick and want more power so i was just wondering whats a good bike to start with that will be comfortable and powerful is there any bike better than the other

well, honestly, normally i'd say a 600, but being that you're larger in stature, i'd say go with a 750, you'll be happier in the long run. just sit on a couple and see what feels best to you, thats the only real way to tell whats good for you. they're all pretty similar performance wise.

any of them are going to be fine. Its splitting hairs with 600's as they really haven't made a bad one in a decade. Find something comfortable for you and go from there. The 1000cc aren't really that much bigger if at all for comfort

You don't need a bike bigger than a 600 right now. People who say you'll get board with it quickly and want something bigger probably only commute or ride around on freeways with it. I don't know anyone who is bored on a 600 riding twisties or a track (aka real fricken riding :D ).

The only thing I'd be worried about is the adjustability of the suspension for your weight. In stock form, they really aren't designed to adjust for riders too much bigger than 200lbs, let alone 270lbs.

Lots of guys have gone back to 600s after owning liter bikes. They are lighter and easier to flick into turns....Have more race classes at tracks for them...Many riders love the power of the liter but admit that on many tracks and twisties, they are actually faster on the 600.

Too many people judge a bike on how fast they go when you crack the throttle open or how long it can wheelie for...It's a shame because there is so much more to riding than that.

tons of 04-06 600ss bikes for $5-7k. You can ride here about 9 months out of the year without a crazy amount of gear or gadgets. 600's are a steep learning curve as it is so I wouldn't push my luck too much with a bigger bike. At 270lbs it will be all about getting the suspension set up for you on whatever bike you get. My girlfriend and I weigh a little less than 300 and my bike 99 zx6r has no problems at all going really fast and having a lot of fun
