Default is this a bad idea?
im just trying to reduce underseat temps. after about 3 hours of riding when its nice out. my ass is burning and it makse the ride suck. so im just trying to do something to help a little. Do you guys have any reasons why this might not be such a good idea?

It's going to help, but your ass is still going to be hot. I can't stand undertail exhausts for that same reason.

heat wrapping pipes supposedly shortens the life of the pipe....only real drawback and even then you wouldn't keep it long enough for it to be an issue

If wrapped correctly, they do a great job. What about a heat shield under the seat?
