VIRGINIA BEACH — A motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a car. The victim was identified as Edwin C. Smallwood Jr., 37, of the 4100 block Pattershall Court.
Police said the accident happened at about 11 a.m. Sunday on South Plaza Trail, about 100 yards south of Virginia Beach Boulevard. Police have not identified the motorcyclist or the driver involved.
Charles Funk of Newmarket was heading south on South Plaza Trail when he turned the 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier he was driving in front of the motorcycle, which was traveling north, police said. He was later charged with making an illegal left turn.
Smallwood was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead

still sad to see a biker go down by the innatention of 95% of the drivers out there.

yeah i noticed they said they hadnt identified him then next paragraph they do. definitely sad though. it was a sportbike too i think. it looked like an sv or somethin i just saw a quick flash of it on the news
