Default Is a 600 rr overkill..?

I have decided to get myself a bike. I am a novice rider...with that being said is a 600rr a bad idea..?

I have been riding an 02' 600 f4i with a power commander, smaller sprockets, and lowered for about 15 hours. (around NoVa..fucking crazy ass people!!) I like it, but i like the look and "idea" of the 600rr better? I am not a big guy either...5'9 150.

TIA.

No, its not overkill by any means, its a very forgiving bike.

Do you guys who posted even have or ridden the 600rr's?

I just bought one; I really don't recommend it for a newbie.

Get a 600 F4i; much better for a beginner imho.

I have ridden one, it sits very upright and has a smooth powerband... I see nothing wrong with it. I have said this before and I will say it again, a bike will only go as fast as you make it go.

Exactly, so if you are on a 1000cc Bike or you are on a 250cc bike, its only going to go as fast as you twist the throttle and the chances of injury in and accident remain the same.

Why do you say a 600 rr isn't good for a newbie. What makes it "harder to tame"? I plan to lower it a little and get a stabilizer, thats it really. Is the power band unstable like a CR dirtbike...haha?

I have spent all my time riding an f4i. It had some goodies so it was quicker than stock, i thought the power was kinda, lacking. It was quick but i expected much more. Like i said, i have no intention of wheelies, etc. I just want a bike i can "grow" into and do some nice mountain runs when i feel confident.

Oh and please save the "you say that now" bullshit, about the stunt'n. I have fucked up real bad on a dirtbike before, i know how un-predictable shit can happen!! I plan on riding....fast, well maybe...all in due time.
