Default 600 Mile service ?

I got my 600 mile service coming up here real soon, any ideas at what im looking to spend on this (first new bike), and recomendations. Im pretty mechanically inclined and was thinking of doing it myself, but if its cheap enough i'll just bring it in to be sure. From what i understand its basically an oil change, and nut and bolt inspection, chain inspection blah blah blah. I havent called around yet, so i was just seeing if anyone else has done it, what you paid, was it worth it? Thanks

The dealer is never worth it, but since this is your most important service, I probably would go ahead and do it. I have never had a new bike though, so I would not really know.

i'd just do oil change, filter and crush washer and of course check over bolts and levers etc. when you get to 1500 probably do it again to make sure all metal is out and then at 7000 replace plugs if you're like me and 14000 would be the one to take to the shop if you can't adjust the valves and that's some expensive sh!t

agreed. dealers rape you on service like that. i know, i've worked at plkenty of them (and that's one reason i don't work at one any more)

change the oil/filter, and give the bike a thorough check over. that's all a 600 mile service is. the only major service is when you come to a valve adjustment interval usually.
