2003 R6 ignition coils recall
Yamaha is replacing all 03 ignition coils (Nippon Denso) with the 04 ones (Mitsubishi) free of charge. This is for all 2003 YZF-R6R(C) models.
Yamaha Technical Bulletin #M2003-019
Symptom: The ignition consistently misfires during acceleration and one or more direct ignition coils arc to the cylinder head within the spark plug well.
Cause: Water intrusion and insufficient insulation of the outer plastic case of the direct ignition coil, insome cases, may allow electric current, in the secondary portion, to arc to the cylinder head.
Remedy: If the symptom is encountered, replace all four direct ignition coils with the new tipy direct ignition coils. The new coils have increased water intrusion resistance and improved insulation.
Dealer remedy: After confirming one or more direct coils show signs of arcing, install the four new-type direct ignition coils.
SERVICE OF ALL UNITS IS AUTHORIZED REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY STATUS.

my friend had that happen, but they refused to fix it under warranty or a recall, but then again this is Cliff's Yamaha we are talking about, if you've never had to deal with them count your blessings

haha, no he tried to get it done at cliff's and they said no, so he had me get them for him through burcham's
