Default 2002 Yamaha R1 help

I am having some trouble with a buddies R1. He is a midget so we lowered the bike with a lowering link. Since, we lowered it, the chain guard case bolt is blocking the shift linkage from shifting up the gears. He can only get into first gear. Any body know if a mod is needed to fix this?

Also, sometimes the bike will not shift into any gears, he has to roll the bike a little bit inorder to get it to shift into a gear. I think it's something about the chain needing to be tightin'd or adjusted somehow. This seems like a simple fix, I just dont know what it is.

Any help will be great,

without seeing what's hitting, it's hard to say.

about the having to roll the bike, that's normal. Motorcycle transmissions don't have synchro's like cars do, they need to be spinning to shift properly.

It sounds like something was overlooked. I suggest not riding it in and taking it into a qualified motorcycle repair shop. Also, lowering a sportbike will dramatically reduce its ability in the corners. May want to consider putting it back to stock, shaving the seat and having the rider run taller-soled boots to compensate. Once you are rolling it doesn't matter.
