04-06 Yammy R1?? u like?
 
ive always rode gixxers my whole life and now i have the chance to get a r1 for a crazy deal. Its a 05 r1 3k original miles for 4k, nothign wrong with or nothign ...rode it and all. How do these bikes compare to the gixxer 1k and kaw zx10? let me know the pros and cons and mag articles and all, thanx fellas. yammy virgin here.

maybe a little shy in power copared to a GSXR or ZX10R but the bike handles great and there is alot available for that bike. i love my 05' R1

go with a GSXR1k so you can pass on that deal on to me.. LOL thats a good deal i'd jump on it and if you don't like it you can always flip it

Not evenclose the only thing comparable between those 2 bikes are that they are 1k's. The both have 2 completly different personalities. The R1 has alot more of its power up top where as the gsxr has a much smoother rpm band. You have to work harder to ride a R1 fast but must be done with finese where as a 1k the power is always there and the harder you ride it the better it responds. Hope this makes sense!

I was under the assumption that this would be a bike ridden on the street. Unless you're on the track riding the bike like it's meant to be, those differences will be hard to identify.

Not really as I personally do not like Yamaha's on the street since there power is so high in the rpm band they don't really make good streetbikes. midrange is very important for a streetbike as this is where the most usable power is for the street but this is where most Yamaha's are lacking. Although this process can be fixed with a gearing change but then you have a wheelie machine on your hands!

from a Yammy owner go with a gsxr1000 or even a cbr1000

buy that one for 4k, trade it for a gixxer :)
