So I recently acquired a x box 360 for free from my brother. It overheats (my wild ass guess) after about 15-20 minutes and turns off.

You guys know of any local shops that can take a look at it and get it going for me? My girls friends fiancee is supposedly pretty nifty with shit like this but he's my last resort. Everytine I see the dude I wanna punch him in the mouth.

If you can confirm that it's the legit Overheating RRoD code, I can fix it for about $20. I've fixed a few already in the past 2-3 years. The only ones that couldn't be fixed had multiple problems. Im not 100% sure that's what it is. From what my brother told me he found online that seems to be the problem. Ill fuck with it a little in the morning and see what I can come up with. Is there anything I can do to trouble shoot it to make it a little easier?

The best way to do so, is to get the codes by holding the "Sync" and "Eject" buttons as soon as you start the console.
