Weather might finally clear up on Sunday the 20th. If it's clear outside, I'll take the little red car out for a drive with some friends. You're welcome to come along.

For fall tree foliage colors, here is a preferred route. Lots of twisty back roads! From Glen Allen VA (north side of Richmond, near I-295/I-95), we will head out and either go northwest on RT-33 to RT-522 or all the way to Skyline Drive if it's open, then south towards Charlottesville, and back. Stops in Barboursville, Charlottesville, and maybe somewhere else along the way.

Other route is preferable on a non-Sunday to get some good photo ops at the plantations along RT-5. Take I-295 to a secondary meeting spot near the Airport park-n-ride (for those coming in from the 757). Then head along RT-5 to check out the plantations and stop at a nice family owned restaurant along the way.

Thoughts?

We would have to do a rain-date just in case. Two and four-wheel vehicles welcome, leave your asshat at home, don't need the drama.

How long would that route take to complete? Need an idea for planning purposes.

figure most of the day, here are the planned routes and drive times (need to add time for stops)

Skyline Drive route: 4 hrs ride/drive time
Almost to Skyline: 3 hrs (RT-33 to RT-29 south to Charlottesville)

Plantation route: 2 hrs, but would stop a bunch

This sounds like a pretty good time... Would love to bring my Camaro out, hoping there are plenty of gas stations along the way.

Let me know what route you're going. I would be better off with the shorter trip, cause my freedom passes are short.

I was thinking I would ride the bike out for a trip like this, but could only spare maybe 3 hours or so...
