i know the guy up in ohio who swapped a 1u into his 86 and he has only broken 1 rear end to my understanding.
if he has only broken one then there is no way your going to break a 240 axle.

Look into the w58 tranny off the 2jz (holds 500), the r154 (from a soarer would be better than from a mk3 supra for where it's gonna put your shifter, holds 700), the marlin crawler r154 (holds 1250). There's about 5 more choices-none of these are direct bolt-up but you can get the adapter plate for around $100 on fleabay.

All that and you're going to run a Megasquirt? You won't even have sequential fuel injection, you'll be doing batch fire injectors and ignition..
There are only 2 ignition and 2 injector outputs.
Megaquirts great... for 2 cylinder engines.
