She's a brick.....house
As a few of you know my Z met it's demise a few weeks ago. I had the idea of buying a 911, Miata, but then decided I should get a normal car, pay off my bills, and then splurge in the spring. New York has some shitty winter so Subarus came to mind...
Then Jones had to interject and fucked my whole plan up.
So here is my 1979 Volvo 245DL w/ 66,899 original miles. It was purchased for $2000 after sitting for 7 years. It had dry rotted tires, crappy wiper blades and needs pads up front. Other than that...it's good to go. There's a dollar bill size area of rust on the bottom and where the roof rack meets the roof the gaskets dried up and peeled up some paint. The leather interior doesn't have a single scuff.
I plan to keep it nice and clean, but as original as possible, mainly keeping the outside as is and making the inside fit to my needs. I plan to daily it
What needs to be done
- Tires done
-Front brakes
-Wipers done
-Inspection
-Registration
What I'd like to do
-Radio mounted in glove box
-Update audio...components and sub(s)
-Fix saggy headliner
-Overhaul fuel and electrical system
-Exhaust a small pinhole leak. So new exhaust
-Lower 3-4 inches. Haven't decided on bags or coils
-Wheels. No going hellaflush or anything with extreme poke or stance. Just a nice tuck
-Wood panel the trunk space
- Join the Volvo high mileage club 100k,250k, +?
I've put 100 miles on the car since I've bought it and I've already had so many conversations with old/current owners of Volvos and other "classic" cars and it definitely grabs attention. I'm enjoying it and hope I'll be updating frequently

I like it. Can't beat a volvo wagon. There's a 240 sedan up the road from me that has the same style you're going for. Stock looking, but nicely lowered with a clean set of wheel on it.
What happened to the Z?

I got into an accident heading home from work one morning. Super dark stretch of HWY in NY, 0 runoff, nothing but Jersey barriers

Good deal. My grandad just teacked down a 64 pv544 he used to own and he's trying to buy it back. I love me some old Volvos. Sub'd.
