well things today are a little different. it's more about speed + squid-appeal than anything else.
Ironically these CBs are considered the birth of the modern sportbike. Honda was the first to offer an affordable and reliable 4 cyl; a revolution at the time.
These bikes at inception had disc brakes, 67 hp, and could expected to EASILY do 100,000 mi.
A bike that could outperform anything else out there and was more affordable than many others? Recipe for win.
