my first project (mustang)
eh figured id post this up
i know mustangs arnt really popular on this site but some people will appreciate it
if you dont like it...i dont really care...im happy with how it has turned out so far and im proud of it
background:
i picked up this 1989 mustang lx for my 17th bday. it has an AOD transmission and roughly 130,000 miles on it. the owner let the car get away from him and dropped the front end down into a ditch. this damaged the radiator core support and slightly bent the frame. to fix these parts we also purchased a parts car that was a 1990 lx that served strictly as my parts car. all together we picked up both cars for 1100 dollars...not a bad deal imo
when i got it:
parts car:
teardown:
the "krinks"
drivers side:
pass. side:
drilling out the spot welds to remove radiator core support
[/QUOTE]

Re: my first project (mustang)
spot welds removed:
began stripping the parts car: (gramps was helping when he could)
radiator core support:
off to the shop to get frame straightened out and radiator support welded on:
got it back we hadnt originally planned on pulling the motor. but while the car was in the shop i got a killer deal on some aftermarket engine parts and that is why we waited til the car came back from the shop to pull the motor

Re: my first project (mustang)
with the interior done i began sanding and preping for primerrrrrrrrr
the next day i began spraying:
i rolled it outside after i got the back half done
then back inside it went to get the rest:
in the process of painting i also refinished my trim (it was painted that ugly blue color:
first i painted the door area around the window black:
next i installed the passenger side trim and mirror:
looks alot better than before imo
and after doing all this in a nearly dark garage haha i invested in some new lights for the garage...lowes was having a sale...so no more trying to work with just a flashlight for me:thumbsup1:
