Custom Vinyl Wrap Update post #27

Over the years I've watched the vinyl car wrap industry come out of it's infancy. But I wasn't sure if it was for me. Then, on Mid-Atlantic Domestics Car Club - Official Website - A Mid-Atlantic Region Car Enthusiast Community! • Portal I saw the attention to detail N8V Comp took with a Matte Blue Terminator Cobra. Anyone who took the time to do what N8V did on that car was going to get my business. See more here: http://www.exoticvehiclewraps.com/wp...uemetallic.jpg

I called up N8V and spoke to them about my options. I have always wanted an Orange car. It's my favorite color, I'm a diehard Philadelphia Flyers fan, and the Orange colors of the muscle car days combined with the killer 5.0 platform I felt would be a winning combo. It's not that I don't like the Sterling Gray, but I wanted something different. Sterling Gray is pretty common and this is going to be my last car for a WHILE. So I better make it good right?

The mods on the car currently are a Vortech V3, Vortech Tune, Borla Catback. Street Scene lip, Street Scene side skirts and 3DCarbon wing.

Going on the car within the next month are K&W coilovers, Adj PHB, Wheels and tires.

Anyway, enough with the talk. I think the pics and N8V's skill will speak better than I ever could.

These were some of my options:

Very nice. Sucks about the spoiler. Does this cost as much as a paint job?

The spoiler I replaced. That's just goo from the duck tail I had on there before. It'll come off.

It's about a 1/4 of what a good paint job is.

Besides price, what are the reasons you chose to do vinyl?

Oh, it looked like the paint came up with the spoiler.

It's quite amazing what they can do with wraps now.

You see that matte blue vette running around? I think it was in vette magazine this month. CRAZY.

Damn, that is a pretty great job, I didn't realize they would do the door jambs/sills and everything. Very thorough job.

Though I won't ever buy a car new off the lot, it's a great way to both protect the paint and make it your own. Orange may not be everyone's cup o' tea but if resale comes along, peel it off...no harm no foul.

The prep involved here is nothing compared to properly disassembling a car for full color change. Plus, it's nice seeing that roll of vinyl and knowing it is the EXACT color you're getting. No surprises when she comes outta the booth.

What's the durability/life span like on that vinyl?
