The LT1 is an all-new engine, and while there are a few similarities in dimension, we're told there is not a lot of commonality with the outgoing LS3. The LT1 has a displacement of 6.2 liters and makes 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque in its initial form. Compression is set at 11.5:1, and is made possible by next generation combustion technology and direct injection. One telling fact that the Chevy engineers were very open in sharing: the 2014 Corvette base model will be under 4 seconds zero to 60. They also tell us the LT1 is very octane tolerant, and can easily handle low fuel octane without needed ignition retard or suffering detonation issues; simply put, it's designed to take a beating and last the long haul for the warranty. Chevy also tells us the LT1 will improve upon the LS3's fuel economy, which currently sits at 26 mpg highway. Other cool facts: 2014 Corvette buyers will also be able to choose dry-sump oiling as an option on their LT1, and the all-aluminum/composite LT1 is one of the lightest V-8s ever at just 465 pounds. |

I feel like a 6.2l, 11.5:1, direct injection engine rated at 450/450 is WAYYY underrated.

Didnt they already make an LT1 engine?
