Chump Car World Series Presents 24 Hours of VIR
 

Well the car finished! Quite well I might add. 6th of 86! Pretty amazing for its 3rd 24 hours race on the same motor. It could have ben driven home with a brake change (warped rotor).

This race was a true 24 hour race. VIR South, then VIR Full, then VIR South with 1 hour saftey brakes in between course changes.

There were definetly some car there that had no business being there (LS1 swapped wagon, LT1 firebird ect) but luckly they all had issues and never really were competitive.

I must say Kienan Weber (All Aspects), Mike Coulling (Brokeneck), Mike Arrigo(Icantdo55), AJ, and Chis Schultz (Flite) drove the HELL out of this thing. Hell of a job guys.

Our driver communication system. 3 differant color LED strips with 3 matching ones on the car. Green for "everything is fine", orange for "Time for driver change", orange and white for "Coming in with a problem with the car.

Its has a pretty cool write up on Jalopnik.

You'd be surprised what it costs to run a $500 car competitivly for 24hrs. Definetly isn't cheap by any means.

Was a great weekend! Car is a little scratched and bumped up thanks to all the other drivers (I hit nothing!) placing top 10 was a great!

To anybody saying it looks like fun... you have no idea. I haven't had that much fun since I was racing snowmobiles, and I'm not even 100% sure that was more fun than this. Two days later, and I'm still on a high. It feels totally surreal right now.

Mounted up by the roll bar like that they have a lot less chance of getting damaged by somebody rearending you. It happened too.

Chump is way less strict than Lemons when it comes to contact. AJ got fucking plowed into. Had they not been up high we would have been wasting time trying to fix it.

See you make it sound like there was alot of work involved, we unbolted them, then cut a piece of flashing and used some self taping sheet metal screws to cover the holes where the taillights were.

Can't remember what car that was...but its stuff like that that makes this race. Lots of scetch ass backyard fabrication.

There was an SN95 mustang that shattered a piston. Rather than change the motor they pulled the head, cleaned out the bits of piston, slapped the head back on and continued on 7 cylinders. Car wasn't super slow either.
