'79 Dodge Omni...

Figured it was time to re-introduce the car. This is a 1979 Omni that I purchased from the original owner for $400. This car used a 1.7l carb VW motor that produced a whopping 75 hp. Now, after countless man hours, and a determination that neither my wife or friends quite understand, it's now a tire-roasting beast. You hit boost in this thing and you are driving for your life, which of course makes me smile (while passengers usually just yell obscenities). I had the car together about a year ago, but sold it once completed. New owner blew it up 48 hours later after the tune was erased unfortunately. I bought it back from him sometime thereafter and decided to give it another go.

Stock SRT-4 2.4T
A555 Trans, Welded Differential, Chromoly Bearing Plate
Garrett T3/T04E
Megasquirt 2 engine management

Will gladly begin posting videos of it in action as well. Here are a few recent pics...

Saw one of these turning onto aviator drive the other day here in vb. Huge front mount. Love these things. I remember one of these from years ago at the racetrack surprising the fuck out of people. Cool cars if you ask me.

I saw this running up and down N. Military Highway in front of my work yesterday. Looks and sounds amazing. The front mount on this thing is massive.

Thanks alot for the interest. I like building something unique, and spending the time with this car gave me a good opportunity to make it what I want.

Wheel hop is indeed a bitch. Solid mounts helped, but still can't control the power on those little tires. Picking up some drag radials so I can actually go somewhere. Right now it roasts the tires all the way through the top of 4th gear.

More impatient, that was me the other day. Been running around town trying to street tune it.
