Whats the difference between a Honda Vtec & a Ford Ztec motor??

LOL!!! U said one of em starts with a Z & the other one works.....SO u tellin me the only difference is the letter Z in the front cuz my boy gots a Ford ZX I believe & when he pops the hood that junk says Ztec & I was like WTF?? So if someone could explain to me what the Z in Ztec means I would be grateful!.....Peace!

It is all the same as V V T I

didn't ford come out with the first vvti engine

toyota badges is the VVTI

honda had the rights for the VTEC design from 1990-2000 i believe.

I believe mitsubishi was the first one with the technology. VVTI is just the valve timing, VVTLI is has the lift (ex. celica gts) VTEC includes cam lift as well. I dunno much about fords, does ZTEC have lift?

Yeah thats what Im talkin about break it down! Vtec vs Ztec? My boy argues with anotha friend of mine sayin that Ztec doesnt mean nuttin (I personally just want to know the truth) so they can shut up! One saying HOnda is better & the other saying FOrd is there really a noticeable difference?
