I read this in the July/August 2004 issue of Men's Health. A Segment in the magazine is car tips and advice by Crankshaft Don (Don Sherman). Someone writes in:
"I want the fastest car for the least cash. Thoughts?" Don replies: "Speed doesn't come cheap. If your budget is $20,000, buy a Dodge SRT-4. For less than $30,000, you could drive a hot Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution RS. For $40,000 you'll find a near-new Corvette. If you're handy, a $10,000 used Honda Civic modified with 10 grand of turbo-charging and nitrous will blow away all of the above." End quote. Thought you'd enjoy that. |

Interesting article. Speed can come cheap, hell if all you cared about was going fast, just buy a 70's muscle car, easy to work on, and fast as hell. Why don't most people do that? Same reason why most people don't buy Civics and dump $10,000 into them, practicality plays a role in reality.

Re: You'll like this article
First off you can a used civic cheaper than 10,000 but lets say you only have 20,000 and the only civic you could find was 10,000
Turbo kits are like 3,000 n2o kit 500 various other mods 3,000 6,500 run 10's so 16,500 and you could walk any production car in the 40,000 price range |
