Default WTF Geico? Dropping the STI cause it is "too modded"???

So I got a letter in the mail the other day from Geico. They basically said that they are dropping the comprehensive/collision coverage on our STI because it is to modified. Has anyone ever heard of this? Seriously?! If you have a loan on a vehicle aren't you required to have full coverage insurance?? Seriously?! I have never heard of this....am I the only one? lol

Here is some of what the letter says:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT THE COMPREHENSIVE, COLLISION, EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE AND RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT COVERAGES(S) FOR THE 2008 SUBARU IMPREZAWRXSTI PROVIDED BY THE GOVERNMENT INSURANCE COMPANY ON THE ABOVE NUMBERED POLICY ARE HEREBY TERMINATED AS OF 12:01AM ON 06/22/2010.

The specific reason(s) for our action is:

We are currently insuring a 2008 Subaru Imprwrxsti on your policy. (Wat? No shit)

Certain vehicles, either because of their performance characteristics, excessive customizations, or type of construction, do not fall within our pricing structure. Your 2008 Subaru Imprwrxsti is such a vehicle; therefore, we are unable to offer physical damage coverages on your 2008 Subaru Imprwrxsti.

Seriously this is a bunch of bull. What if I am fine with OEM replacement??? I mean its a huge loss, but shit I need the car insured!

It's got a fully built engine by Raw Performance and a custom 30R rotated kit. Thats the only major stuff....other little things like clutch, flywheel, wheels....common mods. I don't know how they know this though......I think my husband might have mentioned it....I dunno.

I agree with Progressive. They'll insure anything and anybody.

The only way I can think that they would know is if your hubby reported it in order to be able to claim the mods. I can't really blame Geico though.

Do you think maybe we can sign something that says we are fine with OEM replacement should anything happen??

I used to be with Progressive way back when. When I got married I got on my husbands Geico policy. We have been with them for almost 10 years.......I shop around for insurance all the time but I can't fine anyone cheaper than Geico. Not even USAA.

Accepting OEM replacement doesn't change the fact that the car, as it sits now, presents a higher risk for an accident than stock.

They say with a "highly modded" automobile you are 60% more likely to be involved in a accident.
