Re: WRX Gear replacement
Are you keeping it AWD or comverting to RWD while you're at it?
I've been doing the same research as you are off and on and I've kinda got my heart set on a PPG set, there are a few combinations available (straight, heli, combi, dog, synchro) and the prices aren't too bad. That's relative of course. I'm shooting for the synchro'd straight first/sec, helical everything else. I like to look at what the Australians are using, they're my WRX barometer.

Re: WRX Gear replacement
Cryo treated, stronger root/tooth profile, stonger than stock, but not a very much stronger. I've heard up to 300 WHP tossed around, which for the money (~$2000 before install) doesn't sound too great. The general concensus seems to be that if you're shooting for big power, don't bother with the RA gearsets. I was thinking abut the RA sets because of cost, but I only want to change gearsets once. Don't forget about the transfer shafts/gears and the mid and rear diff, they're weak too..

Re: WRX Gear replacement
I think between $2500 and $4000 depending on what type, etc. Call Andrewtech Automotive, they're the North American distributor, go to gearboxtech.com, they're nice people and will answer all your tech questions.
