Well, the first thing you need to decide is what kind of chip you want. Then you have to find a vendor that sells it, and go get it installed, but step one is defineatly deciding what chip you want. Since you have an '04 I'd recommend Revo or some other kind of port (software) chipping rather than hardware chipping... its much more stealthy to the dealer who will try to void your warranty if they find out you've chipped your car. Go here... http://www.ecutuning.com/revo.php

i always hear about euro cars getting "chipped" what does this mean exactly? why not just get like an S-AFC and tune it yourself, is it different?

Some cars (Audi/VW's) don't take well to second rate programming. You need a program specific to that engine or you'll majorly F it up. It's better to let someone who KNOWS what they're doing do it.
Chipping is usually an import word, domestics don't do it so much. It refers to modifying the programming of the ECU which in turn can change things like boost, timing, etc... to increase performance.

1.8T faq (chips)
I personnaly like GIAC and REVO for 1.8t chips. Check these links for dealers:
REVO: http://www.revotechnik.com/usa/usrevo.html
GIAC: http://www.giacusa.com/dealers.php?d...ull_intstall=1
There used to be a REVO dealer in VA Beach, but he's not on their site anymore. Curry's in Richmond can do your chip (GIAC), but you have to make an appointment.

Don't get me wrong, GIAC makes great stuff... but this guy's got an '04... and that warranty will save him thousands of dollars in the next 5 years (probably). All I'm saying is don't go the hardware chipping route... software only... and something you can revert to stock specs.
LS-T where do you work? Performance shop???? Just curious cuz my TT could use some upgrades.

Re: Where can i Chip my 1.8t?
I had a spare ECU that I used whenever I had warranty repairs @ the dealership. Now that i'm out of warranty, I've sold my factory ecu.
Revo/giac/apr/mtm/ams are all great companies. Go with whatever your local tuner supports. That would make life lot easier if you ever need to troubleshoot
I don't work at a shop, I just know the shop owners. Its where I've got all my stuff done
www.4induktion.com
They specialize audi/vw/bmw/porche..
Check out Audiworld.com for feedbacks

Re: Where can i Chip my 1.8t?
That's true... but that's also more $ to get a whole new ECU and it's a LOT more dificult to reinstall the stock ECU than flip a switch and go back to stock specs. Good point though.
What about Dalhback ? It's become the new craze.
I've also heard good things about ProImports, that's probably where I'll get my Revo done (Revo cuz I'm an '03, and I LOVE that Audi still pays for EVERYTHING including brake pads, clutch plates, wiper blades, ALL maintainance, etc... I don't wanna ruin that )... but hey, if you've got the hookup... then go for it.
Does GIAC do software only (port) tuning yet? or only hardware swaps still?
