Hello all,
I recently decided to test the Volvo and see exactly how many miles I could get to the gal/tank.

I filled up @ Wawa with 85 octane (fuck u I'm cheap) and for 18.5 gal it cost me $47. I reset the trip meter and drove around, not pussy footing it but actually driving, until it showed about 5 miles till empty.

I recorded 360 miles on one tank and have repeated this several times to insure it wasnt me just being cautious. That works out to be about 20 mpg.
With all this talk of "Our new car gets the best mpg in the country" and commercials of cars mocking gas pumps i wanted to know how "older" cars were doing mpg wise.

I could cheat a little bit because I have a gauge that tells me how many mpg I'm getting and how many miles to zero.

my mr2 gets about 17mpg with combined city and highway.
my jeep gets 12.2 with combined city and highway.

Wawa has 85 Octane? Thats awesome.

Anyway, my mustang gets 14.9mpg consistently city, and 20mpg highway.

The escort get 21-22mpg city, dunno what it gets on the highway.

I am getting 43mpg in my current civic. In my old crx I got around 57mpg.

These cars are 91 an 90, respectively. These cars are getting these numbers ~15 years before hybrids.

85 octane, bro, volvos take 93 octane premium fuel, theirs your problem. Higher octane fuel burns more effeciently

The Miata gets under 20mpg around town, I got about 30mpg on the highway (top down). Haven't checked the Buick yet, not sure what the mpg on the 3800 supercharged motors are known for.

20mpgish, s2000 I drive it enthusiastically though(93octane).

And higher octane burns slower

I doubt your factory turbo car cares much for 85oct.

my bad folks I meant 87. Not that its much better. I know I fill it up with the good stuff once per month.
