Re: vibrant flat black muffler vs dynomax muffler
I had a straight through dual tip dynomax muffler hooked up to my 3'' turboback on my 91 tsi. It was very quiet, and looked very very stock with just two stock looking tips on the end. It was only loud when under WOT because of the open wastegate dump. I had been previously pulled over on numerous occasions with the apexi n1 muffler on, but after switching to the dynomax, I encountered no more trouble with police over the noise level of my exhaust. I have no experience with the vibrant but I give the dynomax a thumbs up

Re: vibrant flat black muffler vs dynomax muffler
I personally vote magnaflow. I dont have any clips other than at the track from years ago but I think you may be able to hear it over the Nova I was racing. Not really loud at normal cruising and not as loud as a dynomax at wot. With 3" exhaust and no resonator/cat, it is definitely louder than in could be but still cleaner sounding than what is in the poll.

Re: vibrant flat black muffler vs dynomax muffler
I just ordered a vibrant 3" with an 18" resonator because the cops in my new town are having a field day with me. I'll try to get it installed in the next week and get a clip up.

Re: vibrant flat black muffler vs dynomax muffler
I just got a vibrant, its quieter for sure, but my car is still loud (2.5inch from the header all the way back with only a high flow cat). And the black coating came off the tip at the track.

Re: vibrant flat black muffler vs dynomax muffler
I just put mine on along with a vibrant resonator, i'll work on getting some sound clips. I just dropped it off for the 60K service so its gone for the weekend.
It is much quiter inside my car while driving, probably thanks to the resonator. I wouldn't say it's a whole lot quieter outside my car though. It looks closer to stock and has a deeper sound so hopefully it'll keep the cops off of me. If this doesn't work then I'm in the market for a baffled muffler and a 3" cutout (I might end up with the cutout anyways). |
