Re: V8 help. LM7 vs. LQ4 vs. LS1!!!
pm pick-a-part on LS1tech. they always have some good quality, fairly reasonable priced pull outs. i got quoted 3250 for a complete LS1 pull out (harness, accessories, engine, trans, 6 month warrenty) plus a few odds and ends.

You can adjust the suspension a little, but that big of a shift in weight distribution is going to be a problem no matter what. Suspension adjustment will just slightly mask it, it won't correct it by any stretch. That's why I'm saying it all comes down to whether you actually want to keep using it as a serious drift car, because you're shooting yourself in the foot with the extra weight if you do.

I fully understand your point and agree with it. Im just trying to keep my options open. An LS1 is already adding about 50lbs to the front suspension. Adding another 100 on top of that 50 will change the handling of the car. I am looking for an ls1 atm. well see what i find. I always seem to find good deals.

Just a quick question, are you comparing the weight of the stock motor fully dressed as well as the ls1? I know that when i was factoring weight in with my rx7 i kept forgetting that i would not be running all the accessories and would be cutting some weight. Just throwing that out there.

Engine for engine. people have comparisons of both engines/trans and they came up with those numbers. I guess Iw ould have to weight the thing my self and see what it comes out to.

I have an LS6 block in my garage if you're interested.
I had a stroked LS1 to a 383, patriot 1.5 heads, and a custom ground cam, exhaust, tune, (stock ls6 intake and tb) and mad 460 to the wheels.
i now have a stroked LQ6 (same as LQ4, when it comes to the block) to a 408, with the same heads, new custom ground cam, and the same intake set up, making 500 to the wheels....
If you're interested, maybe we can work out a deal to where we can upgrade my intake set up, and my heads and you can have the block, heads, and intake . I actually need to get the pistons and cam I had in my 383 as well, so you could have that too...
for a 240, I would stick with an aluminum block (LS1, LS6, LS2, LS3...) Also, the LS3 is an aluminum 6.0L block. Definitely don't need a 6.0L for 400WHP though. Ed at VA Speed is also, one of the best LSX tuners in the area, so you may want to use him for final tuning... Did an AMAZING job on my car, especially with the constrictive intake and heads on there...

If weight is an issue, why not an Aluminum block 5.3? I know they make them in some of the trucks. From what I've heard a lot of parts from the LS1 will also work with them. Could be something to look into.
