Type S H22
Gene at Tuner Edge just got my motor in for my swap (JDM h22) i went to go check it out and he said it was a Type S motor..(from looking at the motors Red Valve cover) I asked him if it was just a painted valve cover he said no it was an original..now the type s motors are OBD II the H22's are OBD I..i figured i would need a conversion kit for it to work.. He said he doesn't think so...he also said that there is an OBD I type s motor but its rare.
I was wondering if the Type S motor's valve cover would fit on an original jdm H22?? if so that could be it. It may not even be a Type S just a look alike..
i guess the only way to know is from the VIN #
let me know what you think.......

Re: Type S H22
yes
the type s is an h22, i dont know the difference but it is basicly a h22 just more power.
you can swap vavle covers out with no problem.
what year is your car 96+ obd2 95-92= obd1
so it depends on what year the car is if weather or not you need a conversion harness

Re: Type S H22
type s motor should be 220 hp and the difference is in the cams and i think the pistons raise the compression to 11:1 vs. the stock 10:1 that's in the usdm and jdm h22a/4

usdm is 10.1:1
jdm is 10.6:1
type s is 11.1:1
The difference is the pistons in all three, and the type s has different valvetrain and cams. But the type s usually runs about 1000 more or so for a swap. So as long as theyre not making you pay more for the "type s" engine, then i would say just buy a harness and put it in. If it really is a type s, you should sell me the airbox
